Chapter 145: Safe Zone
Chapter 145: Safe Zone
Kayn raised its head and roared at the top of his lungs, trying to convey its feelings through its mighty roar, telling Elliot that it would protect him with its life for as long as it lives.
Not only had Elliot blessed it with a life and a name, but he had also given it an incomplete soul, causing it to believe that he was its God, a being it should respect and serve with utmost sincerity.
It didn’t need an order for it to act.
It would move to protect its master and his interest in any way possible!
A loyal and intelligent lifeguard, that was the benefit Elliot earned from giving it a soul!
“Go and rest for now,” Elliot said, recalling it back into the resting space of his artifact, Undead King’s Requiem.
Elliot raised his head to look at the sky and saw black clouds moving in his direction. “Looks like I would need to move soon.”
Elliot sighed, thinking in his mind that planet Xavier and planet Earth are too peaceful compared to this place.
Earth was like a place with many nests. Each nest housed many humans, be it magicians or normies. Of course, magicians lived a high-class life while the normies, one born with the inability to contain magic energy, cleaned their shit.
These nests could move, too, as they had gigantic spider-like legs.
Outside of these nests resided monsters, and thus, all places outside of the nests, so-called mobile cities with energy barriers were danger zones.
While Xavier was a place incorporated with mysteries, and it had several bases protected by powerful magicians.
But both Earth and Xavier didn’t have zones with such a lethal environment, at least none Elliot had heard about.
[Everything in this place is different than the planet you’ve learned about and the planet you’ve experienced. Even something as simple as day turning to night and vice versa can bring about a catastrophic event, enough to end your life if you mess up. I advise you to start thinking like that. That way, your chance of making it out alive and adjusting to this place would be higher and easier, respectively.] Suddenly, Hope’s monotone voice sounded in his ears.
“Okay, okay, I will make sure to not mess up from now on,” Elliot replied.
Because of the recent discoveries, from the story of the king of Kings to the devastation imposed by the overpowering nature, he came to realize that magicians were nothing indeed.
He who has become over-confident after defeating his peers and seniors was nothing more than a toad in a well, knowing not of the greatness lying behind his domain.
“Can you calculate how long it is going for this place to become hazardous?”
Since Hope was an artifact that was beyond his comprehension, Elliot believed that performing calculations shouldn’t be much of a problem for it.
[The big storm clouds will reach this area in six hours. Then, it will take five minutes for them to incorporate with the environment and send down lightning.] Hope replied after a moment.
“I should really hurry up.”
Elliot crossed his legs and started executing the stamina restoring breathing method.
He sucked in the air, taking a deep breath. He held it for several minutes and then exhaled a mouthful of murky air.
<+2 units of stamina>
Right after that notification popped up in his mind, he began breathing quickly, breathing in the same way as a man about to bust a nut.
Suddenly, he stopped breathing.
Right at that very moment, a notification popped up in his mind.
<+10 stamina>
His way of breathing changed again.
Now, he was breathing like a one-minute man, a title for people who can’t do it for more than a minute.
Each minute he breathed like that, his stamina restored by a unit.
It took a while, but he restored his stamina and decided to rest for the night and hunt first thing in the morning.
He laid down near a tree and used a few dry branches to start a fire to keep himself warm. It wasn’t hard to do so. After all, he picked up basic survival skills in school. The thing was that the forest was warm merely hours ago, but now it has become cold.
He closed his eyes.
[Are you going to sleep?]
“Don’t worry. I have no intention of dying while lost in my dreams.”
There was no way he was going to sleep in a place like this where death and danger are almost about everywhere.
He closed his eyes only to rest.
[Champion, you should look for a safe place after taking a rest. This lightning isn’t something magicians below the grandmaster realm can survive]
“I was planning to do just that.”
“Boom!!”
Sometime later, a roar came out of the darkness high above, pressing on the heart of all manner of life below. Blue streaks flashed in the swirling dark clouds, lighting up the night.
Elliot’s eyes snapped open when he heard that roar.
In two hours, the dark clouds would reach him. He needed to leave right away.
He raised his head to check out the other places with little to no storm clouds, and he saw that there four miles away from him. He didn’t dare to fly as the winds were too strong, and he began walking towards the place with no clouds. To reach that place, however, he had to go through a low-level hazardous zone, one with a lightning strike every three minutes or so.
“Ah, another statue!” The safe zone that he reached also had a copper statue. It depicts a woman with a curvy body and the lower body of a snake. Furthermore, even her hair was like snakes. He realized that this was the statue of Medusa. He went up to it without a care because he knew that there was nothing wrong or special about it.
Its only function was to open a portal to the third trial for a person who has collected at least 100 spirit points.
