Chapter 279 Loriel Asks Raphael For Help
There was a literal sword still stuck in his chest and yet the king of Summeria still managed to come back to meet with the god of healing.
It was incredible that the man lasted this long, but if Loriel wasn\'t healed in this moment, he would surely die.
"Argh!" Loriel\'s bloodied hand held Raphael in the shoulder. Blood was trickling down the corner of his mouth, and he was deathly pale as a ghost, but there was a determined look in his eyes. "Raphael, please… heal me, if I were to die right now, it would be too easy for me."
"Unbelievable." Raphael looked at the mortal and shook his head for a moment.
It was a strange thing to say. Most humans would have begged to live because they wanted to stay alive and were afraid to die.
Loriel wanted to live because he thought death was too easy a punishment for all the pain he had inflicted on his wife.
Finally, the handsome man, who always looked so uncaring and cold, relented. He remembered the beautiful and sweet Elise. She didn\'t deserve to receive all the horrible treatment her husband gave her.
So, after he thought for a while, Raphael finally decided to agree with Loriel that the king of Summeria must be given harsher punishment and he had to work hard to gain forgiveness from his wife.
Even though, deep down, Raphael hoped Elise would not forgive Loriel. Not all stories should have a happy ending, shouldn\'t they?
"Please…" Loriel kept begging Raphael. He shamelessly tugged on Raphael\'s sleeves. Finally, the man, who was also known as the ice prince, nodded slightly.
"Fine. This is going to hurt," he said to Loriel.
"I don\'t care. Do it."
Raphael smiled faintly and waved his hand. "You will have to pay the price for this."
Before Loriel said anything, Raphael held onto the hilt of the sword and pulled it out from Loriel\'s chest.
The young king collapsed to his knees as blood poured faster out now.
Even his body couldn\'t heal naturally because of the severe injury that he had taken from just one attack from Dante, and yet he was still looking at Raphael.
Raphael laid down his hand on Loriel\'s chest as healing energy swept around the king\'s body and repaired his wounds.
The fatal hole in Loriel\'s heart started to close and within seconds, the gaping hole was completely healed. There was no scar left in his chest either. It was as if he didn\'t receive the wound at all.
Loriel gasped out as he felt his strength return to him and he slowly sat up. He placed a hand on his chest and looked at Raphael.
He croaked out a word. "Thank you."
"I will collect your debt in the future.," Raphael said firmly. "I hope that you\'ve learned your lesson."
Loriel couldn\'t help but shake his head because he only learned once things were incredibly late.
"No. I actually need to ask for your help again. I was too arrogant before but now I understand the difference between gods and mortals. Please tell me how to defeat a god. I need to force the Time Master to send me into the future so I can see Elise."
Raphael looked at Loriel and saw how determined he was. "What would you do if I didn\'t tell you? It\'s almost ridiculous to ask me how to kill a god because no god in their right state of mind would want to answer this question."
"Then I will have to find a way to defeat the Time Master through some other way," Loriel said.
"While some mortals are capable of defeating gods through their own power and brilliance, but for someone like you… I recommend that you join the tournament to godhood in Cretea."
"Tournament to godhood?" Loriel asked.
Raphael nodded in confirmation.
"The easiest way to defeat a god is to become an immortal yourself, so that\'s what I suggest, especially to beat someone like Dante."
"Of course."
Raphael clicked his tongue. "I have to warn you that the path to godhood is difficult. This is a competition not only for humans but various people from different realms."
Loriel shook his head. "I do not care, I will do it."
"Then I will give you a map to Cretea and you can join the tournament," Raphael nodded. "Remember that you may die in this tournament and the gods are not allowed to interfere during this time. I cannot heal you if you are injured there."
"I won\'t die as easily now," Loriel said.
"Perhaps your stubbornness will do you some good," Raphael shook his head and finally pulled a scroll out of thin air. "Find your way to Cretea and you can participate in the competition."
Before Loriel took the scroll, he paused for a moment. "The Time Master will be there, won\'t he?"
"He\'s one of the gods asked to be in charge of the challenges," Raphael said. "But similar to how I am not allowed to heal you or anyone else participating in the tournament, he will not be able to do as he pleases there."
"Unless he does it secretly to sabotage me," Loriel muttered. "You cannot rule that out at all."
Raphael was impressed that Loriel immediately considered that. The God of Healing didn\'t even say it aloud but the king of Summeria was able to read in between the lines of the additional dangers he would be facing.
"That\'s right. I am sure that he will find a way to bend the rules and give you a hard time… but will that stop you?"
"No. Not at all." Loriel fiercely stated. "I will work harder to become an immortal. He will have the chance to dread and count the moments until I become a god like him."
"I sincerely hope that your actions will match up with the strength of your words." Raphael offered him the scroll. "I know humans like to boast and say a lot of things but fail to do them."
Loriel took the scroll from the god\'s hands and smiled grimly.
"Please do not worry, I have every intention to stay alive until I win all the challenges and become immortal. I will find Elise and bring her back here."
Raphael slowly nodded. "This competition will take at least several years to accomplish, so manage your affairs. I wish you good luck."
"Thank you." Loriel parted ways with the god of healing after that and though he wanted to meet with the King of Myreen before leaving, King Alexander refused to see him.
Only Raphael gave him a chance.
Before Loriel went to Cretea, he would return to Summeria to talk with his people and also prepare for the journey. Loriel appointed the next king of Summeria from one of his sister\'s sons and looked back one last time at his kingdom.
Loriel never actually cared about wealth and power that much, even in the past, but this time, he determinedly gave it all up for the chance to be with his wife again.
