Chapter 64
Near the Cherrylife village, Jake appeared dressed as a nobleman. He had decreased his height to 5’9” and hid his horns, but didn’t change his appearance. Jake looked like a high-class young man who wasn’t supposed to be in this place.
Vin and Diana wanted to accompany him, but he rejected them. Jake didn’t need protection at the moment as he would do nothing high-key.
”Let’s go,” he said to Erin who was standing there with a smile.
She was wearing a dark cape and rolling her bangs with her forefinger, looking at her master with an obsessed gaze.
”Mn,” Erin replied and turned around.
A bloody mist enveloped her body, and she ran ahead as a red beam of light. Jake shot forward at his top speed using [Phantom Steps].
In this month, other than fucking around, managing his dungeon and monsters, Jake was also practicing his skills. He had leveled up Phantom Steps two times.
It had gone from Rare lvl. 1 to lvl. 3. With his high agility and strength, he could burst at the speed of a race car until his stamina permitted. Even as a vampire, Erin was behind her master in speed.
They both reached the outskirts of Cherrylife village in no time. There was a luxurious carriage before the gate.
The children of Cherrylife were around the priest who was waiting for Jake and Erin. Seeing them come, he immediately stood straight and reported.
”My Lord, this is the best carriage I could bring from the nearby city,” he said.
A week ago, Jake had given him some money to buy a carriage for this day.
He looked at the exterior and the interior of the double seat carriage. Jake then checked the horses.
”Good job, you may go now.” Jake dismissed the priest who took the curious kids away with him.
From the village’s fences, a few lads were looking at this black-robed man and what seemed to be a woman wearing a cape. Who were these people and what relation did they have with Father John?
Although they had various questions in their minds, the boys didn’t go to check on the strangers. Instead, they kept looking while chatting as the handsome man and the hooded woman entered the carriage.
Jake knew about them but he didn’t care. He sat on the coachman’s seat and pulled the reins, snapping them beside the horses’ ears. Hearing the crisp sound, the trained horses ran ahead.
Inside the passenger cabin, Erin sat gracefully on the front quarter. After they left the vicinity of the village, Jake’s appearance gradually changed and he became an old white-haired man instead.
Still wearing luxurious clothes, he looked like the coachman of a wealthy family.
”Master, I have looked into the background of Baron Leo. He is a middle-aged man with two wives and a single boy. As you had told me, I found he governs the Rustfall town and lives there.
He has a squad of 20 unranked squires, 5 First Circle Knights and one 2nd Circle Knight commander. The baron himself is nothing. But he has vast land and his influence among the surrounding nobles is high, second only to Viscount Werbner,” Erin reported and Jake carefully nodded.
”Hmm, he will be our first target,” Jake said in a deep voice as the carriage went past a tall cherry tree.
Erin had investigated the nobles by infiltrating into the human cities. Right now, Jake had two nobles as his target. Viscountess Aella and Baron Leo.
The former was an influential woman who had ties with the count of this province while the latter was mad rich. Once he corrupted them, he could slowly exert his influence in the Karsuda province.
He was doing all this to take over the entire kingdom one day.
…
Jake and Erin arrived at Rustfall two days later. Both didn’t have to eat anything, but the horses needed rest and food. That’s why they were delayed.
During this time, Erin was extremely clingy to him. He realized that if he didn’t spend sufficient time with her, she would do something terrific.
Erin was already restraining herself by not harming the women her master was interested in. She knew Jake was a fucker. Yet her intense obsession for him compelled her to stay with him.
It wasn’t because she had pledged an oath. It was something else. Erin knew it started when she first tasted his blood. Jake hadn’t let her have it again until recently.
He started paying more attention to her and now he brought her to this place, leaving the other women in the dungeon. Erin herself didn’t realize how happy she was. When she became like this, her eyes would glow and her mana would flow erratically.
”Erin!” Jake called and told her to control herself.
”Ehm, master. How long are we staying in the town?” she asked.
”We’re leaving after corrupting the baron.”
”Eh, why so soon?!”
Jake glanced ahead and used [Mana Communication].
”We’re also swiping his treasury clean, but first we need to meet this guy.”
At this moment, the horses neighed as they stopped before the gates of Rustfall. Two 1st Circle Spearmen were stationed as guards here.
”The entry fee is two coppers,” One guard said and suddenly stretched his hands to catch the coin Jake had thrown.
It was gold! The guard couldn’t believe his eyes.
The horses neighed again as Jake pulled the reins. The guards hurriedly went to the sides. After the carriage left kicking up dust, the two men looked at themselves.
”Did you see the emblem? Which noble family was it?”
”I didn’t see it.”
A carriage coming to the town was nothing special, but Jake’s arrogant attitude made the guards think the person inside was a noble. After all, even their own salary was just 2 silvers per week.
After entering the town, Erin told Jake the routes to the baron’s mansion. Sitting on the driver’s seat, Jake was looking at the infrastructure of this town, and it was certainly better than villages.
There were stone and brick houses, the road wasn’t that dirty, and even the people wore better clothes. Still, compared to the towns of modern earth, this place was crude.
After a while of rounding the streets, Jake pulled the reins at a junction which was mostly empty. He couldn’t see any pedestrians here.
Erin alighted the carriage at this moment and looked at the three-story house in front of her. Jake got off the driver’s seat, coming beside her.
”We’re here, master. This is the place.”
