Chapter 774 - Think about that someone anytime, anywhere
It was too bad that they were launching a full attack at a base with literally nobody inside it.
And it would be too late for them to realize it when Song Shou had already obliterated their base once they headed back.
A kind of red herring.
“Meh.” Wen He looked away in despise towards his overly reserved reply.
She surveyed the road ahead of her and suspected if it would take at least another 30 minutes before they got to their stop.
“Hey, Huo Chen,” initiated Wen He, “Mind telling me what does it feel like to fall in love with somebody?”
What in the world did you just ask, Wen He?? What kind of retarded question is that?
Just when she imagined the kind of indifferent, inhumane response Huo Chen could pull off, “When you can’t stop thinking about that someone anytime, anywhere,” Huo Chen made his reply.
“...”
I knew it. So does that mean he’s thinking about Lu Zhaoyang even when half of his body was sunk inside a running pool of mud?
Wen He thought as she rubbed her nose, “You can’t be missing a married woman all the time. You’re a soldier with dignity after all. Well, we are married, how about you think about me anytime, anywhere instead? I mean, you still need someone to do your funeral for you when you are old, right?”
“I don’t need anyone.” Huo Chen was finding her request bizarre. Wen He snorted and shut up since then.
Like Wen He, you have buttered up this man to an extent you humiliated yourself, what’s the point?
Such thought haunted Wen He even after they got out of the river and arrived behind a large mountain. Huo Chen then ordered and joined his men to build a simple house using stones, leaves and branches before setting up a fire at the center. The filthy men decided to change out of their muddy clothing without caring if there was a woman in the scene. Being the only woman, Wen He sprinted away and hid behind the tree.
Huo Chen waved his men away from the tree and shouted a moment later, “Well, you can change now. No one will watch you, don’t worry.”
“Huo Chen...” Wen He popped her head, “If you want to have a peek, I don’t mind.”
Huo Chen turned away and quietly continued changing into a clean shirt.
They only had 3 hours to catch their breath anyway. Wen He had no time to chit-chat with the man. After getting back to the campfire, she took off her shoes and immediately fell asleep as she laid against a wall of the pebble home. Her body curled upon the warmth of the cracking flame, like a little kitten resting next to a fireplace.
Huo Chen surveyed her. He noticed the blemishes and blisters over her fair and white feet. He frowned and reached for his backpack.
He squatted and picked up a medical bag from which he took a tube of medical cream and a needle. He skilfully pricked blisters and applied some cream using a cotton bud. The kitten never woke up. Not even a snort made out of shock. It must be insanely tiring to travel that far.
Huo Chen replaced his belonging and was going to leave her alone but Wen He’s head tilted as her body began sliding down the wall.
Huo Chen reflexively held her head before it crashed into the rocky floor. Before he could reposition her, she had sunk herself into his embrace, wrapping her arms over his waist and fell soundly asleep again.
“...” The man’s brows furrowed yet he did not toss her away as he sat down slowly and closed his eyes with her in his embrace.
It was such a loving sight as the two known lovebirds slept next to a blazing fire, that two assigned sentries passed glance at each other while smiling.
